Eugene R. Viscusi MD

Eugene Viscusi, MD, is a professor of anesthesiology, chief of pain medicine, and director of acute pain management, at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. His studies include pain management techniques, outcome studies, and novel agents and delivery systems. He has been a primary investigator for most emerging pain technologies in the last 25 years. Dr. Viscusi has lectured extensively and authored over 100 book chapters and abstracts and contributed more than 75 peer-reviewed articles JAMA, Anesthesiology, Anesthesia & Analgesia, and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. His research has been covered by Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today as well as nationally televised interviews. Dr. Viscusi became president of ASRA in 2019.
