Dr. Drew Trainor is a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician at the Denver Back Pain Specialists, LLC. Dr. Trainor is a Colorado native who specializes in advanced procedural interventions to treat all types of pain complaints. This includes fluoroscopy and ultrasound to target pain generators and precisely deliver therapies. He has a special interest in spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve/field stimulation, regenerative medicine (including PRP and BMAC), and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He finds professional fulfillment in improving the quality of life of his patients with appropriate and thorough medical evaluation and intervention and enjoys getting to know those he cares for. He understands the value of using a comprehensive, multimodal approach in treating pain, by treating the patient as a whole – not just their pain complaints. For him, the needs of the patient truly come first.

Dr. Trainor completed both his undergraduate and Master’s Degrees at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He went on to attend medical school in southern California where he graduated as the valedictorian of his class in 2011. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Trainor finished his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency and an interventional pain medicine fellowship (through the department of anesthesia) at the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

While at Mayo, Dr. Trainor conducted research projects evaluating spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of groin pain and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for the treatment of low back pain. He was the author of a review chapter to help other physicians prepare for the pain medicine board certification exam and has presented at many national meetings on various topics related both to PM&R and pain medicine. He has also served as an instructor for an ultrasound for a national orthopedic conference and for Mayo medical students in musculoskeletal history and examination at their annual musculoskeletal medicine course.
