Deborah Cohan MD, MPH

Dr. Deborah Cohan is an obstetrician and gynecologist who specializes in caring for women with HIV and reproductive infectious diseases. She also teaches body awareness and mindfulness as a way to help patients cope with illness and other life challenges. Cohan is the medical director of HIVE, a multi-disciplinary center at San Francisco General Hospital that provides reproductive and sexual wellness services for women and couples living with HIV.

Cohan's research interests include perinatal HIV transmission, prenatal HIV testing and reproductive infectious diseases. She is the founding director of the Foundation for Embodied Medicine, through which she offers training in body awareness, conscious dance and embodied presence to patients, caregivers and medical providers.
