Medical Management of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis 2017
OVERVIEW
Medical Management of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis is organized by University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) Continuing Medical Education and will be held during Dec 07 - 09, 2017 at Park Central Hotel San Francisco, San Francisco, California, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is Designed for practicing clinicians, including family practitioners, internists, infectious disease specialists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. This course will focus on the practical issues in the care of patients at all stages of HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 21.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Overview :
This course provides the active intermediate–to–advanced clinician with a comprehensive review of the science of HIV and HCV as well as updates on the application of HIV and HCV therapies. For ambitious newer clinicians who want a challenge, we will still offer our New Clinicians’ Track (NCT), which provides four additional lectures that cover antiretroviral therapy (ART), basic HIV pharmacology, ART resistance and opportunistic infections.
The course lecturers are leading clinicians and researchers who are also dedicated to teaching in their areas of expertise. Dr. Diane Havlir will frame the conference in the opening plenary with her keen take on the “Top Ten Issues in HIV Medicine”. Dr. Daniel Douek will share the progress we have made toward a cure for AIDS, and long-time AIDS activist and scholar, Mark Harrington, will speak on the vital role that activism plays in the AIDS epidemic.
Course Objectives :
An attendee completing this course will be able to improve skills and strategies to:
• Diagnose, treat, and prevent important conditions in HIV medicine and HIV medicine subspecialties for improved patient outcomes;
• Apply in practice the latest treatment guidelines and recommendations for the prevention of HIV transmission and the appropriate use of PrEP;
• Apply new recommendations for initiating and timely switching of antiretroviral combinations in appropriate patients;
• Identify the new developments and apply treatment recommendations in HIV-related dermatologic disease as well as reproductive medicine and addiction medicine;
• Apply new recommendations for appropriate treatment of both Hepatitis C and/or Hepatitis B and HIV co-infection;
• Align practice patterns more with current evidence and guidelines for treating HIV and hyperlipidemia, STI’s, psychiatric, neurologic and oncologic issues.
