David A. Cox MD, FACC, MSCAI

Dave A. Cox is an accomplished interventional cardiologist with an interest in complex coronary interventions and mechanical support devices for cardiogenic shock. He has been a top enroller in a large number of clinical trials establishing the safety of stents in patients with heart attacks and has published numerous papers and book chapters. Dave A. Cox lectures at many major cardiovascular meetings and will serve as President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (SCAI), the world's largest association of interventional cardiologists. For his contribution to the field, he has been elected a Master of SCAI and is also a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology. After graduating from medical school at the University of Chicago, Dave A. Cox finished his internship and residency at UAB. He then served 4 years in the National Public Health Service Corps in rural North Carolina before returning to UAB to complete his clinical and interventional cardiology fellowship. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. Dave A. Cox has been a Director of Cardiology Research and Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab in his previous position and will contribute in those areas at CVA. Dave A. Cox sees patients at the Colonnade Parkway office and performs procedures at the Brookwood Baptist and Grandview Medical Centers.
