Christopher J. DiMaio, MD is the Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy. Dr. DiMaio’s clinical interests are in pancreatic disease, biliary disease, and pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, ampulla, colon, pancreas, bile ducts, liver). He specializes in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), fine needle aspiration (FNA), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), luminal stent placement (esophagus, gastroduodenal, colonic), endoscopic mucosal resection and ablation, and complex polypectomy. His research focuses on patients with pancreatic cysts and pancreatic cancers, with a particular interest in using novel endoscopic techniques to diagnose and treat these lesions.

Dr. DiMaio received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine training and served as a chief medical resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He then completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy in the combined Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham & Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School program. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. DiMaio served on the gastroenterology faculty at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for several years.
