Alan I. Benvenisty, MD graduated from Union College in Schenectady New York summa cum laude as Valedictorian with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University where he graduated in 1978 and then stayed for his internship and residency in General Surgery. He was selected as “super-chief” and completed his Fellowship in Vascular and Transplant Surgery.

Dr Benvenisty is certified in General Surgery and holds the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Vascular Surgery with re-certifications in both fields, as well as being a Registered Vascular Technologist, (RVT). He is a member of numerous surgical societies with leadership positions and is an immediate Past President of the New York Society for Vascular Surgery. In addition, he is an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and is distinguished as one of a handful of Vascular Surgeons in that Society.

In addition to his expertise in Renal Transplant Surgery, his skills include extensive experience in carotid, aneurysm and limb salvage (bypass) surgery. He is an experienced endovascular surgeon and has a particular interest in non-surgical treatment of varicose veins. He has extensive experience in the non-invasive vascular diagnosis and heads the non-invasive vascular laboratory at St. Lukes-Roosevelt.
