Dr. Prabhu was born and raised in South Carolina, where she completed her undergraduate and medical school. She then moved to Portland, Maine, where she completed 5 years of general surgery residency training at Maine Medical Center, followed by 2 years of fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Abdominal Wall Reconstruction at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
After 2 years of private practice in Denver, Colorado, she was recruited to academic practice in Cleveland. Currently, she practices general surgery at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and has a special interest in abdominal wall reconstruction and mesh-related complications. Additionally, she is exploring the utility of robotics in hernia surgery and is very involved in surgical education within the general surgery residency program.
