Science and medicine have long prioritized objectivity and measurement, often neglecting subjective experience, consciousness, and meaning. This course explores how Western thought separated the mind and meaning from scientific exploration and how metaphysics, modern physics, and spiritual traditions offer new perspectives on reality, healing, and personal development.
Participants will examine the historical evolution of scientific thought, the role of metaphysics in understanding existence, and how tools such as meditation, art, and psychedelics may support self-exploration, healing, and human flourishing. The session integrates findings from neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy to provide a holistic understanding of consciousness and well-being.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Describe the history of science and how meaning and mind were separated from scientific exploration.
- Explain the background of metaphysics and what it offers to our understanding of reality.
- Describe how tools like meditation, art, and psychedelics may play a role in personal development.
