Supporting Family Caregivers and Underserved Populations in Providing Care for Patients with Alzheimer’s is organized by UK HealthCare CECentral and will be held during Jun 18, 2015 - Jun 18, 2018.

The target audience for this medical event is Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Nursing Home Administrators, Home Health Providers, and other health care professionals.This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Health care providers need current information about the risks of developing Alzheimer's Disease including racial/ethnic heritage, rural areas, vascular risks, and Down Syndrome. It is also important to review the reasons why one becomes a caregiver and the tasks and roles the must provide. There is an impact of caregiving on occupational, psychological, and emotional well being and health care providers need to learn how to best support non-professional caregivers.

Conference Objectives :
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe the risks of developing AD based on racial/ethnic heritage
• Describe rural risks for AD and how this impacts the earlier age of onset and death for those living in rural areas
• Disucss how vascular risks impact the development of dementia in the aging population at large
• Review the association of AD with Down Syndrome
• Review the reasons why one becomes a caregiver for a person with dementia
• Describe caregiver tasks and roles
• Assess the impact of caregiving on occupational, psychological and emotional well being
• Explain how to best support non-professional caregivers
