Course Description & Information:
• The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes increasing the risk for skin cancer and skin damage. This course covers the latest research on solar UV radiation, defines UV index and the role of the sun in vitamin d synthesis.

Course Objectives:
• List health benefits and risks of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure.
• Recognize the impact of ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation on skin health.
• Identify the role of excessive UV exposure in the development of skin cancer.
• State two methods for protecting against solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation skin damage.
• Identify two important factors that influence vitamin D synthesis.

Certificate Requirements:
• Full attendance.
• Completion of course post-test (70%) and evaluation.
