The course begins with case studies involving suboptimal multidisciplinary care, which translates into detrimental effects for the patients involved. 

Rachel Jimenez, MD will discuss the ethical principles underlying person-centered care (autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice), in the context of our encounters with individual patients, health care systems, and our responsibilities to society. This will include a discussion of how patient experiences, shared decision-making, and the informed consent process are shaped not only by individual physicians but by how well the multidisciplinary team functions as a unit.

Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Develop multidisciplinary clinics that include radiation oncologists at their institution, and educate their colleagues in other specialties about the value of radiation therapy in patient care.
• Form good working relationships with surgeons, medical oncologists, and palliative care physicians, and be a better role model for patient-centered care in their hospital and community.
