Overview :
This Virtual Expert Roundtable will improve your understanding and competence to confidently initiate and advance insulin therapy in patients with T2DM. Learn how to best leverage the many choices of insulin therapy, including how to combine insulin with non-insulin therapies in order to more effectively improve glycemic control, overcome barriers to insulin adoption, maximize adherence, and reduce the risk for hypoglycemia and weight gain. The potential impact of some new and emerging insulin formulations in development will also be reviewed.
Learning Objectives :
• Identify patient barriers to initiation of insulin, particularly among African Americans and Hispanics, and implement strategies to overcome fear of insulin therapy so as to improve acceptance and adherence
• Assess the different insulin formulations and dosing strategies, as well as the advantages and limitations of each
• Implement individualized, evidence-based strategies to initiate and intensify insulin therapy in patients who have failed to meet therapeutic goals
