Course Description:
The anesthesia assistant plays a vital role on the anesthesia team. Duties may include pre-anesthetic assessment, peri-anesthetic monitoring, and assisting in the management of emergency situations, among others. This program will focus on patient assessment, with emphasis on several common co-morbidities.

Course Objectives:
• Define the ASA Risk Classification System
• Discuss Mallampati evaluation of the upper airway
• Describe pathophysiologic changes in respiratory, cardiovascular and endocrine systems
