Oncology Consultations: Managing Patients with Radioactive Iodine – Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer is organized by Physicians Education Resource, LLC (PER).
The targeted audience for this medical endocrinologists and medical oncologists who treat patients with RAI-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). Surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals (HCPs) involved in the management of patients with RAI-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer are also invited to participate.
This activity is structured using the Oncology Consultation platform, which features specific questions relevant to issues faced by practicing community oncologists. The activity consists of 2 clinical scenarios that participants may engage in, including patients who develop lesions after RAI treatment or exhibit limited to no RAI uptake, thus becoming RAI-refractory. Both scenarios start with selection of first-line treatment and continue through decision points at progression and subsequent lines of therapy. The physician "consultation" allows a participant to hear the experts discuss their approach to treatment. Interactive questions are interspersed throughout the discussion. A series of challenging questions test the learners' grasp of the subject, and sidebars and tables within the activity provide participants with detailed clinical data for reference.
At the conclusion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
*Review criteria for RAI-refractory DTC
*Review emerging data regarding systemic targeted therapies and incorporate therapies into the individualized treatment plans for patients with RAI-refractory DTC
*Discuss common or significant adverse events associated with TKI regimens and effective strategies for their prevention and/or management
*Evaluate emerging clinical data regarding new agents and evolving strategies for the treatment of RAI-refractory DTC
