#7248 Neurologic Gait Part III: Lesions of the Cerebellum is organized by MotivationsCEU.
Course Summary:
The focus is on increased understanding and application of therapeutic interventions to improve abnormal neurologic gait patterns observed from lesions in the cerebellum. This course will review typical stroke lesions of the cerebellum and describe the resulting impairments that may be observed during gait. Using a systems approach, physical therapy practitioners will be instructed how to formulate interventions within their scope of practice and establish and or follow a plan of care to improve gait impairments. The presentation will utilize a case-based approach to demonstrate and summarize the application of the material. (intermediate level)
Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to
• Accurately determine areas of the cerebellum given the functional anatomy
• Precisely identify one impairment typically seen during gait based on a given cerebellum lesion post-stroke
• Independently devise and adapt therapeutic interventions related to impairments of muscle tone discoordination, and or sensory (proprioceptive) loss impacting gait
• Evaluate and correctly match gait impairments to cerebellum lesion location seen post-stroke given a case study
