Goals and Objectives :
It has been estimated that over 38 million Americans have diabetes mellitus. The cardiovascular, neurologic, and renal effects of diabetes are well-recognized; however, surprisingly little information on the musculoskeletal manifestations of this disease has been disseminated. This webinar, presented by Dr. Christopher Morris, will focus on the effects that this disease has on the musculoskeletal system, and how it can affect the everyday activities of the diabetic patient. At the conclusion of this activity, the attendee should be able to:
• Differentiate between the types of diabetes;
• Apply the WHO definition of, and data on, diabetes;
• Recognize musculoskeletal complications of diabetes;
• Identify factors that can lead RA patients to develop diabetes;
• Understand various treatment approaches to musculoskeletal complications of diabetes.
