Monitoring Treatment Success in MASH

Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis (MASH) has entered a pivotal phase in which an historically “silent” disease with no approved options now requires sophisticated, longitudinal management grounded in evidence-based monitoring. This CME/CE video expert exchange focuses on helping hepatologists, gastroenterologists, and specialty APPs translate the approval of resmetirom and the rapid evolution of late-stage therapies into practical, real-world strategies for assessing treatment success. Faculty will review how to select appropriate patients for therapy, implement guideline-aligned follow-up at key intervals (12 weeks, 6 months, 12 months), and integrate noninvasive tests such as FIB-4, VCTE, MRI-PDFF, and multi-biomarker panels into unified algorithms that guide continuation, adjustment, or discontinuation of treatment. Participants will explore common challenges in interpreting borderline or discordant data, coordinating roles between physicians and APPs, and maintaining consistent monitoring in busy clinical settings, including for patients with cirrhosis. Through chapterized discussion, case examples, and performance-focused follow-up, this activity aims to empower clinicians to optimize the use of emerging therapies, strengthen team-based care, and improve long-term outcomes for patients living with MASH and at risk for progression to cirrhosis.
