Course Description:
The Healthy People initiative has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time to encourage collaboration across communities and sectors, empower people to make informed health decisions, and measure the impact of prevention activities. Part 1 of this two-part interprofessional module focuses on the Healthy People 2020 initiative, including objectives and leading health indicators.

Conference Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education module is to inform healthcare professionals about the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Healthy People initiative, including the leading health indicators and objectives of the program.

After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
• Discuss the vision and overarching goals of the Healthy People initiative
• Describe baseline and target objectives and their significance in clinical practice
• Identify two new topics and two leading health indicators found in the Healthy People 2020 program and their relevance to clinical practice
