Description:
Neurocritical care is a specialized discipline that can be confusing to practitioners who don’t treat these patients on a regular basis. However, there are some common conditions encountered in the neuro ICU that may be seen by providers in other areas, as well. Whether you practice in a small community hospital without dedicated neurocritical care, an emergency room where you are responsible for the initial evaluation and management of acute neurological emergencies, or in an ICU setting where patients may have concomitant neurological problems, it is essential to understand the evaluation and management of common neurocritical-care patients. In this session, we examine the most common neurocritical care scenarios non-neurocritical care providers are likely to encounter. In all of these scenarios, time is of the essence, so understanding management can be the difference between life and death. Pharmacology content = 75%.
