OVERVIEW

#7202 Building Dementia Mastery: Empowering Professionals to Improve Quality of Life is organized by MotivationsCEU.

Description:
This presentation aims to equip therapy professionals with working knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), integrating this understanding with core rehabilitation principles to design and implement effective interventions for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Through the use of case studies and facilitated discussion, participants will develop and apply evidence-based strategies that enhance quality of life and demonstrate the value of the rehabilitation professional within dementia care. Additionally, the course will strengthen practitioners’ competence in clinical documentation and empower them to advocate for expanded dementia-related services across diverse practice settings.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe how foundational physiology, statistical and epidemiological information, and progression of dementia relates to the therapy practitioner.
2. Apply evidence-based approaches to mediate difficult behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD).
3. Explain evidence to support occupation-based strategies in practice and provide program planning ideas, staff education, and improved documentation.
