Overview :
Long gone are the days when we described populations as "hard to reach." Descriptions like this shift the blame to patient populations for why they have been historically excluded, overlooked, and undercounted in research. This course prioritizes the needs of the very child/youth populations that research has yet to equitably engage through shared power and committed resources:
• those from underserved urban metropolitan areas,
• those managing disabilities,
• those who identify as LGBTQIA+, and
• those who are part of the global majority (yet racially/ethnically minoritized in the U.S.).

In this course, we will review the steps involved in creating lasting and reciprocal community partnerships through your research. An interprofessional team of pediatricians at Children's National Hospital shared their research values, needs, and challenges that informed the development of this course. Learning Objectives :
• Describe the priority populations who have been historically excluded in clinical pediatric research;
• Describe how to apply a health equity lens to pediatric research;
• List meaningful ways to engage patients from priority populations during the process of clinical pediatric research; and
• List meaningful ways to sustain relationships with communities of priority populations for the implementation of clinical pediatric research.
