Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.0 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Description:
This course provides interactive learning experience to explore appropriate screening for depression, differential diagnosis of depression, and a team-based approach to managing depression in primary care. Participants have multiple opportunities to engage in learning by viewing a TED Talk-style presentation, working with the clinical cases and receiving immediate feedback, contributing to a discussion forum, and studying provided educational resources.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of participation in this course, participants will improve ability to:
• Use a team-based approach to appropriately screen for depression and manage depression in primary care.
• Distinguish major depression from borderline personality disorder.
• Assess depression in young and older adults.
• Select and monitor antidepressant therapy in patients with major depression.
