Description:
The complexity of the anatomy of the brain can make CT scans difficult to understand. However, understanding the cross-sectional anatomy of the normal, injured, or diseased brain can help improve awareness of common brain injuries that can be diagnosed with a CT scan.

Goal and Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this brain injury and computed tomography scan continuing education program is to provide imaging technologists, nurses, and paramedics with adequate information on common disorders that affect the brain, and the role of the CT scan. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
• List the common types of disorders that can be diagnosed with a contrast and non-contrast CT scan
• Discuss what to look for on a normal CT scan of the brain
• Describe the common causes of bleeding in the brain, and how they appear on a CT scan
