OVERVIEW

Cancer Summaries and Commentaries: Update from Chicago: Advances in the Treatment of Head and Neck Cancers is organized by Physicians Education Resource, LLC (PER).

The targeted audience for this medical and surgical oncologists who treat patients with head and neck cancers. Fellows, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with head and neck cancer are also invited to participate.

Recent evidence of the impact of the human papillomavirus (HPV), as well as the role of early disease detection, immunotherapy and targeted agents in development for the management of head and neck cancers has led to increased activity in the research of novel treatment options. These investigational therapies, along with sequential therapy, transoral robotic surgery, systemic therapy, and treatment of locally advanced disease may expand the oncologist's toolbox in the treatment of head and neck cancers leading to improved patient outcomes.

At the conclusion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

>Incorporate new data on the role of tumor biology and HPV as a prognostic factor in the treatment of head and neck cancers.

>Assess novel strategies for individualizing therapy based on emerging clinical data.

>Evaluate emerging clinical data regarding new agents and evolving strategies for the treatment of head and neck cancers, and apply clinical trial data appropriately in order to optimize the outcome of individual patients with consideration for safety and tolerability.
