Description:
Anesthesia SimSTAT offers a module that focuses solely on robotic surgery anesthetic management. Anesthesia SimSTAT – Robotic Surgery is designed to improve the knowledge and performance of the practicing anesthesiologist who may provide intraoperative care for patients with complex health problems undergoing robotic surgical procedures. In this course, learners will practice the management of a patient undergoing robotic intra-abdominal surgery requiring effective differential diagnoses, rescue from unstable clinical conditions, resuscitation, frequent reassessment, and other emergent interventions using our innovative, screen-based simulation system in an interactive, realistic manner.

During the simulation you will experience:

• The factors that should lead to disengagement of the surgical robot, the steps required and the common complications associated with use of the surgical robot.
• Virtual patients with unique, realistic diseases who are based on physiologic models that respond appropriately to clinical interactions. 
• A full complement of interactive anesthesia-related equipment, and monitors with live physiologic data and waveform tracings. 
• Formative performance feedback and identification of strengths and define areas for improvement. 

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

• Describe the anticipated concerns associated with robotically-assisted procedures.
• Effectively create an appropriate differential diagnosis for the obese patient in steep Trendelenburg with markedly elevated airway pressures.
• Describe the factors that should lead to disengagement of the surgical robot, the steps required, and the common complications associated with use of the surgical robot.
• Develop and demonstrate the necessary technical and behavioral skills to manage an intraoperative crisis.
