Description :
Research in radiation oncology results in exciting breakthroughs in cancer therapies and can lead to discoveries that can improve the health and survival of cancer patients. Securing funding for this type of research can prove difficult for some; therefore, ASTRO is offering our investigators a chance to interact and learn from our most well-funded members.

This workshop equips participants with essential skills and resources to develop competitive grant proposals:
• Formulate grant proposals from ideas.
• Develop Specific Aims & Project Narrative.
• Successful researchers’ “Secret Sauce” on topics such as finding the right mentor, the importance of the biosketch, and reviewer perspectives for different grant mechanisms.
• Real (redacted, non-public) grant applications demonstrate how experienced researchers structured their proposals.
• Mock Study Section led by a highly respected NIH Scientific Review Officer.
• A list of relevant funding sources recommended by radiation oncology researchers.

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

• Structure grant proposals.
