Course Description:
Given the novelty of biosimilar development, there have been many challenges to the uptake and utilization of biosimilars across the United States. Many questions remain surrounding the approval and use of biosimilar agents, including their efficacy, safety, clinical data, costs surrounding these drugs, as well as their development, regulations, and use. During this AJMC® Payer and Specialty Pharmacy Forum, an expert faculty panel including an oncologist, an oncology pharmacy clinical specialist, and an oncology managed care pharmacist will collaboratively review biosimilars as treatment options in the care of patients with cancer, regulations that govern the approval and utilization of biosimilar agents, challenges that have been encountered with the recent advent of biosimilar products, and potential benefits of biosimilars that warrant their adoption in clinical practice. The panel will also address how pharmacists can play a vital role in developing solutions to address the barriers to biosimilar utilization.

• Investigate the challenges that have been encountered with the recent advent of biosimilar products.
