Strategically developed to promote the care team’s awareness of HHT and galvanize optimization of HHT-associated IDA management, this series of Ace the Case sessions will highlight key teaching points and clinical pearls in the real-world management of patients with HHT and associated ID/IDA, inclusive of current guideline recommendations and expert best practices for safely and effectively using IV iron supplementation in the setting of HHT.

This case-based educational session follows a 61-year-old woman who was diagnosed with HHT four years ago, has a current epistaxis severity score (ESS) = 6.88/10, confirmed gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding on upper endoscopy, and reports significant pain in her right hip x 3 weeks; she has been treated with bevacizumab x 2 months. Key teaching points highlighted in this case include the evidence, evaluation, impact, and management of IV iron-associated hypophosphatemia in patients with HHT, with a focus on prevention.
