A Practical Approach to Surgical and Cytopathology Vol. III is organized by Educational Symposia (ESI) and will be held from Jul 01, 2017 - Jun 30, 2020.

The target audience for this medical event is pathologists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 16.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
This CME activity has been designed to provide a very practical yet comprehensive review of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, breast, pulmonary and gynecologic pathology. It includes an overview of diagnostic pearls leading to an accurate diagnosis as well as how to best avoid diagnostic pitfalls. Integrated throughout the program in an overview of diagnostic immunohistochemical and molecular genetic techniques describing their clinical benefits and pitfalls.

Educational Objectives:
At the completion of this CME teaching activity, you should be able to:
• Recognize the major diagnostic pitfalls in the diagnosis of Barrett’s esophagus and Barrett’s-related dysplasia.
• Discuss the more recently recognized variants of ulcerative colitis as well as the major issues related to diagnosing dysplasia in the setting of inflammatory bowel disease.
• Identify some of the major diagnostic issues in the most common colorectal polyps including serrated polyps.
• Employ the diagnostic approach to assessing difficult prostate needle biopsy specimen.
• Explain the nomenclature and diagnostic approach to flat and papillary lesions of the urinary bladder.
• Describe the newest classification of renal tumors.
• Employ an approach to lobular lesions of the breast.
• Recognize problematic issues in core needle biopsies of the breast.
• Illustrate how to assess and fully evaluate margins in lumpectomy specimens.
• Discuss difficult diagnostic issues in endometrial biopsy specimens.
• Identify the most essential diagnostic issues in cervical biopsy specimens.
• Describe the approach to difficult mucosal lesions of the head and neck.
• Discuss the newer aspects of molecular alterations in thyroid neoplasms.
• Review the approach to difficult lesions of the salivary glands.
• Describe the essential elements of diagnosing non-small cell lung carcinoma in the molecular era.
• Discuss the new WHO classification of lung tumors.
• Employ a diagnostic approach to interstitial lung diseases.
