Description:
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of myofunctional therapy techniques and topics related to orofacial growth and development and how they are applicable to pediatric feeding therapy. Strategies for assessment and intervention will be provided and case studies will be reviewed. Course instruction methods include lecture, demonstration, videos, case studies and question/answers. (Intermediate Level)

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify and implement signs and symptoms of orofacial dysfunction in pediatric feeding clients.
  2. Provide parent/caregiver education and training to support home program implementation of therapy strategies to improve eating behaviors related to orofacial structures and function.
  3. Utilize provided resources to support a more comprehensive approach to assessment and treatment interventions for pediatric feeding clients in an outpatient therapy setting.
Credits

Format: This is a 3 contact hour course equivalent to 3 CEU’s or 0.3 CEUs offered as a live webinar or self-study. Instructors present the live course content via an internet website displaying real time power points. Learners will receive a course instruction link. Instructors lecture through livestreaming internet on your computer. Questions may be asked during the webinar using the chat feature or the “raise hand” feature for live discussion.

SLP Credit: This course is offered for 0.2 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level).
