About The Program
Join esteemed faculty and colleagues and earn up to 4.0 AMA or ANCC Credit(s) for a series of comprehensive lectures and interactive discussions on evidence-based guidelines and treatment modalities for multiple myeloma (MM).

There will be four mentorship-style sessions, each focusing on a different topic to enhance shared-decision making and team-based care for your patients with MM. Following a brief lecture reviewing key information, you will be split into an interactive breakout group for peer-to-peer learning and the opportunity to network with colleagues in your discipline.

Come prepared to ask questions, collaborate with colleagues, and share a challenging case* you’ve encountered in clinical practice to allow for discussion of evidence-based recommendations and gain expert insights to management. 

*All cases presentations will be deidentified and HIPPA compliant.

Program Overview:
Racial and ethnic disparities in multiple myeloma (MM) impact outcomes, with Black patients facing higher incidence, poorer survival, and less access to advanced treatments. Many healthcare providers lack awareness of these inequities and the importance of culturally competent shared decision-making (SDM). In partnership with CU Hematology, our live virtual mentorship program offers an interactive learning experience led by expert faculty. This initiative provides healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to implement SDM, enhance cultural competence, and foster team-based care. Through mentorship, case discussions, and real-world insights, we aim to equip participants with actionable strategies to reduce disparities and improve outcomes for all MM patients.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

• DESCRIBE racial and ethnic factors in patients with MM that affect incidence, disease characteristics, progression, and patient survival.
• IDENTIFY disparities in MM care and access to novel treatments among underserved populations.
• OUTLINE treatment plans incorporating collaborative SDM that address social and cultural norms, health literacy needs, and build trust in the patient-clinician relationship.
• IMPLEMENT team-based strategies to mitigate healthcare disparities in MM, focusing on equitable access to emerging therapies and patient-centered care.
