With the introduction of new systemic agents and the identification of an oligometastatic state, there has been a dramatic shift in oncological outcomes for certain cancers. A greater proportion of patients have the potential to live longer with metastatic disease. As the complexity of palliative radiotherapy and its application increases, so do the potential health economic and health service implications.
