OVERVIEW

Imaging of Temporal Bone is organized by Unilabs Academy and will be held from May 03 - 05, 2027.

Description:
Designed for radiologists and head and neck (ear) surgeons who would like to become more confident in reading temporal bone studies will benefit from the fellowship. The training will cover all essential topics related to temporal bone imaging and will include both basic and more advanced knowledge to report.

The temporal bone radiology fellowship will cover anatomy, CT/CBCT and MR techniques and most of the congenital, traumatic, inflammatory and tumoral pathology occurring in the external, middle and inner ear. Imaging findings in patients with conductive and sensorineural hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus, blue drum etc. will be discussed. Also, more advanced topics on imaging in Meniere’s disease, pre- and post-op imaging in cochlear implant candidates, post-op evaluation of the middle ear etc. will be explained. The participants will review the images first by themselves and then together with the mentor and the group.

Each day ends with a common reading session of the cases with interaction and discussion with the participants and the mentor. At the end of the programme, you will be able to image and report temporal bone studies. Participation in this temporal bone radiology fellowship is limited, resulting in a personal learning experience among your peers. In these small groups, all questions can be asked, you can make mistakes, and you can learn from each other with the support of the radiologist mentor.

Unilabs Academy online radiology fellowships are held in a virtual classroom on Zoom. You are encouraged to engage in discussions using their camera and microphone to recreate the face-to-face experience. Online sessions are recorded so that you can review them on your own time following the training. In this small group environment among your peers, you are free to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn together with the support of the radiologist mentor.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upgrade your knowledge in Temporal Bone imaging by immersion in a learning environment simulating daily reading room activity but free of the distraction of daily practice
  • Learn how to optimise CT/CBCT and MR studies in patients with temporal bone disease and become familiar with important anatomical structures that can be affected and serious complications that can occur
  • Master basic and advanced temporal bone imaging, including post-op imaging.
  • To understand the clinical questions that need to be addressed and how to report them

Programme will include:

  • Lectures related to imaging of the external, middle and inner ear, covering temporal bone anatomy, CT/CBCT and MR technique, and most of the pathology that can occur in the temporal bone including post-op imaging.
  • Individual reading of selected cases with group case discussion
  • Question and answer session with specialised radiologist mentor
  • Lifetime access to presentation slides, session recordings, and other course materials
  • Access to discussed cases prior to and after the fellowship (for 1 year)
  • Your own personal dashboard and course materials on Unilabs Academy online platform
  • CME Certificate
