Desert Foot Virtual Multi-Disciplinary Limb Salvage and Wound Care Conference is organized by PRESENT e-Learning Systems and will be held from Dec 03 - 05 and 10 - 12, 2021.

Target Audience:
This Conferece is intended for all podiatric surgeons, surgical residents, MDs, DOs, WOCNs along with the VA, DOD, IHS and AAWC Healthcare Professionals.

Description:
Conference Co-Chairmen are Drs Charles Andersen, Matthew Garoufalis and Thomas Serena (Past-President AAWC). The Desert Foot Virtual Conference provides a great opportunity for you to meet and share your scientific leadership with a large part of the federal service wound care and surgical community, as well as hundreds of healthcare professionals in acute care, home care and the private sector. The conference brings together six groups involved with limb salvage preservation of the lower extremity, from healthcare clinicians in the private sector, the Veterans Administration, VA Podiatric Residency Directors, Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC), Arizona Podiatric Medical Association, and the Department of Defense from across the country to a virtual conference to best meet their educational needs. This important conference will be live streamed, and the education will be taught by our nation’s top key opinion leaders focused on evidence-based and best practices to improve limb salvage techniques, advanced wound care skills, and treat surgical and medical disorders of the lower limb.

Learning Objectives:
• Identify the basic pathophysiologic mechanisms involved in chronic wounds to be able to determine and utilize appropriate interventions to affect final healing.
• Demonstrate the basic principles of managing ischemic skin and nail disease.Recall the underlying etiopathogenesis of foot ulcers and how this relates to appropriate management.
• Recognize the presenting characteristics of infections of the skin, nail, soft tissue and bone and demonstrate their appropriate management.Understand current classification systems for foot ulcers and infections.Recognize the ischemic and neuroischemic foot through clinical and diagnostic modalities and understand various treatment options for management.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the evidence supporting multiple advanced wound technologies that can be used to expedite chronic wound healing.
• Identify the role for surgical interventions in the management of high risk lower extremity disorders.

Pre-Conference:
Included in this event is a Pre-Conference* sponsored by 3M on December 3rd and December 10th from 11am - 2pm EST. It will be called Innovative Solutions for Hard-to-Heal Wounds: A Patient-Centric Approach to Improve Outcomes. Attendees of these Desert Foot Virtual Sessions will recognize that wound bed preparation, support of comorbid and co-existing conditions and topical treatments based on ongoing wound assessment to change the treatment plan as the wound trajectory progresses has the potential to significantly improve clinical outcomes and reduce incidence of limb-threatening complications. This program’s renowned faculty will provide current up-to-date content for standard and advance wound management interventions that will enhance your practice decisions and clinical outcomes.
