OVERVIEW

Virtual 2021 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual Meeting is organized by American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). This Online CME Course will be held from Feb 08 - 11, 2021.

Theme: Understanding Dynamic Ecosystems

Session Details:
Starting on January 18, the spotlight videos will be released to attendees registered for the scientific sessions. Each Scientific Session will be comprised of 3 spotlight videos, focusing on each speakers work.

Live Sessions will convene virtually February 8-11, where all the speakers who are part of that session will join together to discuss how their individual work interacts (or not) with the other’s work.

Description:
Finding ways of maintaining the stable balance of these ecosystems in the face of rapidly changing circumstances is critical for our advancement. Drawing on a multitude of scientific perspectives, this Annual Meeting seeks to feature diverse ways of understanding the complexities and dynamics of biological, physical, social, and economic systems across scales, as well as strengthening and activating new connections to address underlying problems in various spheres. These challenges facing contemporary society will provide the opportunity to creatively harness science, engineering, technology, and policy to promote sustainable change.

Research topics which may be addressed include:
• Toxins and pollution remediation
• Artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology, and human-machine interface applications
• Modeling—traditional methods to quantum computing Weathering extreme climate and geological changes
• Microbiomes
• Genetic engineering challenges
• Social ecosystems
• Systems of interaction and community-building both in-person and virtually
• Invasive species

Workshops:
The 2021 Workshops will convene during the live virtual 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting February 8-11. Most of these sessions will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing at a later time. Workshops will focus on the following topics:
• Advocacy
• Career Development
• Culture, Equity, and Inclusion

Workshops highlight opportunities or resources available to enhance or augment their careers, and assist students, scientists, or engineers with communicating about science.  Workshops will explore a variety of career choices and routes for people who are pursuing or already have scientific or engineering degrees.
