Jennifer Frazier PhD

Jennifer Frazier is a scientist and curator interested in creating new ways for the public to understand their world through scientific data, images, and instruments. Since 2004 she has worked at the Exploratorium, a museum of art and science in San Francisco, CA. At the Exploratorium she has focused on projects that engage the public in new areas of science, including the Microscope Imaging Station, a facility where the public can look at live stem cells and fish embryos, and the Nanoscale Viz Lab, which created artworks to explore materials science.

She is currently the Principal Investigator of the NSF-funded Living Liquid, which creates visualizations for the public while advancing computer science research, and the Ocean Observatory, an effort to use the bay-front museum as a site for marine science data collection and interpretation. Before coming to the Exploratorium she worked at the National Academy of Sciences and PBS, Jennifer has a doctorate in Cell Biology from the University of California, San Francisco, and a B.S. in Genetics and Bioethics from the University of California, Davis. She has been an NSF Fellow, an AAAS Mass Media Fellow, and has won the NSF/AAAS Scientific Visualization Challenge.
