OVERVIEW

#7334 Using Vibration as an Adjunct to Pediatric Treatment is organized by MotivationsCEU and will be held on Sep 16, 2026.

Description:
Current therapy practice is complicated by contemporary environmental issues of shortened treatment sessions, tele-health, and patients that may have had significant gaps in treatment attendance due to COVID.  The use of Whole Body or Focal Vibration used as an adjunct in therapy can moderate these confounding circumstances.  Vibration is an evidence-based adjunct that is effective for SLP, OT and PT practice in the adult and pediatric worlds.  It works through multiple body systems such as musculoskeletal, sensory, neuromuscular, and respiratory. When used as an adjunct to treatment, vibration can help lead to improvement in a variety of functional activities, ADLs, speech and motor control.   Video examples of whole body and focal vibration during Neuro-Developmental Treatment will be emphasized in this session, demonstrating the effectiveness of vibration related to functional outcomes. Course instruction method includes: Lecture, Demonstration, Videos, Case Studies, and Question/Answer.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Evaluate and define the application of vibration based on evidence based research as an intervention to support occupation and functional outcomes.
  • Defend the use of vibration in a therapy session with clients diagnosed with neuromuscular impairments.
  • Compare and contrast the use of focal and whole body vibration to address specific single system impairments.
