2025 Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) for Perinatal Populations - Fundamentals and Advanced Practice is organized by Rush University Medical Center and will be held from Jun 04 - 06, 2025.
Description:
The Perinatal NET (Narrative Exposure Therapy) Training program is designed to provide training and consultation to care providers (psychologists, licensed and trained counselors, physicians, doulas, etc.) on perinatal trauma treatment using Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), a brief, culturally inclusive intervention for traumatic stress disorders. We will learn to use NET with specific emphasis on pregnancy, postpartum, and the early childhood period (0-5 years) ("Perinatal NET").
Learning Objectives:
- Describe at least 3 neurocognitive processes underlying complex PTSD, according to the scientific literature
- Name and define the 6 "pillars" of NET and their relevance to the treatment model
- Demonstrate the core 5 components of narrative exposure as conducted using "exposure-style" conversation
- Compose a narrative transcript from live exposure practice, illustrating at least 3 of the 5 narrative exposure components
- Case Consultation Series: Option to attend bimonthly consultations to refine delivery of NET as part of your ongoing practice with clients.
