2021 Annual Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Sports Medicine Symposium is organized by Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and will be held from May 21 - 22, 2021.
Target Audience:
This activity is targeted to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning professionals, physician assistants, orthopaedists, sports medicine physicians, physiatrists, and primary care physicians. Residents, fellows, and students of medicine, physical therapy, and athletic training may also benefit from this activity.

Learning Objectives:
HSS Continuing medical education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the completion of the course, the participant should be able to:
• Recognize each person’s role in the team approach (including ATC, MD, PA, PT and Performance Specialists) to providing outstanding patient care and appropriately referring patients to colleagues for treatment of injuries in the athletic population.
• Incorporate at least one current evidence-based treatment guideline for managing articular cartilage injuries.
• Identify at least two pertinent return-to-play principles following hip arthroscopy surgery.
• Incorporate at least two evidence based treatment strategies into their post-surgical treatment plan for rehabilitation of athletes with quadriceps/pectoralis major/Achilles tears.
• Identify at least two training considerations for managing the adolescent athlete.
• Describe current guidelines for return-to-play following a concussion.
• List one technique to assess readiness to return to sport following an ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction.
• Identify common injury patterns in the older runner.
