Performance and accountability is the theme of this year’s Canadian Surgery Forum.

Description:
As surgeons, we need to recognize that there is a difference between being responsible and taking responsibility. This is accountability.

Developing a culture of accountability empowers us to assume ownership of results. Recognizing the shared commitment to our patients and to each other is one of the necessary conditions to achieve excellence. It’s this sense of ownership inherent in highly successful individuals and teams that drives performance.
