The target audience for this medical event is ANESTHESIOLOGY Journal CME is intended for anesthesiologists. This article reports on the prevalence, diagnosis, and pathophysiology of perioperative hyperglycemia and provides a practical outline for the management of surgical patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia.

After successfully completing this activity, the learner will be able to do the following:
• Assess the risk of hyperglycemia in patients
• Manage the nutritional needs of the hyperglycemic patients
• Provide glycemic management in the perioperative period guided by best practices
