The target audience for this medical event is ANESTHESIOLOGY Journal CME is intended for anesthesiologists. Researchers and other health care professionals with an interest in anesthesiology may also participate. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
This article reports on the prevalence, diagnosis, and pathophysiology of perioperative hyperglycemia and provides a practical outline for the management of surgical patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia.

After successfully completing this activity, the learner will be able to do the following:
• Assess the risk of hyperglycemia in patients
• Manage the nutritional needs of the hyperglycemic patients
• Provide glycemic management in the perioperative period guided by best practices
