OVERVIEW

# 343 Primitive Reflex Integration: Neuroplasticity Techniques for Functional Success in Pediatrics is organized by MotivationsCEU and will be held on Nov 13, 2026 at Performance Pediatrics Lafayette, Lafayette, New Jersey, United States of America.

Description:
Evidenced based practice using medical imaging, such as MRI, fMRI, and CT, provides objective proof of neuroplasticity, and supports intervention strategies for rewiring sensorimotor connections within the nervous system.  This course will discuss multiple diagnoses, including Down Syndrome, congenital hypotonia, spastic quadriplegia, and other complex neurological impairments. The instructor will discuss co-morbidities, including the presence and impact of primitive reflexes, in these client populations.

This hands-on seminar will teach the practitioner a deeper functional knowledge through neurological testing, neuroplasticity treatment, and novel activities to promote successful therapy sessions.  Course discussion is appropriate for a multidisciplinary team, including PTs/PTAs, OT/OTAs, and SLPs.  The course instructor will discuss the tone abnormalities and primitive reflex integration from head to toe, including the mouth, trunk, and extremities. Case study presentations will discuss functional assessment and outcomes related to education, play, and activities of daily living.

Lectures, lab and live demonstrations with a real client will be used to support learning outcomes.  Course participants will leave will tools for immediate implementation.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Analyze the impact of retained primitive reflexes on development including play, education, and activities of daily living.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to evaluate and identify retained primitive reflexes in pediatric patients using standardized assessment tools.
  3. Implement targeted intervention plans based on assessment results to improve functional outcomes in children with ADHD.
  4. Explain the relationship between primitive reflex retention and cognitive function, particularly in relation to academic performance and learning disabilities.
  5. Compare the effectiveness of various reflex integration exercises by measuring improvements in motor coordination and sensory processing in children with developmental delays.
  6. Apply neuroplasticity-based interventions to restore functional strength and improve gross motor skills, demonstrating a measurable impact on patient outcomes.
