OVERVIEW

UMMC World COPD Day Celebration 2024 is organized by University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and will be held from Oct 24 - 25, 2024 at University Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Objectives:

  • Increase Awareness:
  • The program aims to significantly boost awareness of COPD among healthcare workers and the general public. By providing comprehensive education and information, we strive to highlight the importance of recognizing and managing this chronic condition.
  • Early Detection:
  • We are committed to promoting early detection of COPD, especially among high-risk populations. Through targeted screenings and educational initiatives, we aim to identify COPD in its early stages, leading to better patient outcomes.
  • Training for Healthcare Providers:
  • A key component of the event is dedicated to training healthcare providers in the latest diagnostic and management techniques for COPD. This specialized training will equip medical professionals with the skills needed to provide high-quality care and improve patient outcomes.
  • Preventing COPD Admissions:
  • The event will also feature the COPD-REDUCE program, which focuses on strategies to prevent COPD-related hospital admissions. By implementing evidence-based practices and preventive measures, we aim to reduce the burden of COPD on both patients and healthcare systems.
