Description:
The program endeavors to provide research, academic, and clinical information in a format that emphasizes the practical application of current concepts relevant to office practice and to professionals involved in the care of children. Pediatric, family practice and emergency room physicians, as well as physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners report that they consistently benefit from their participation in this program. Nationally recognized guest faculty present a series of lectures that are complemented by UCSF faculty and Bay Area experts speaking about a variety of other current or controversial pediatric issues, which will ultimately result in better care for children of all ages, infants through adolescents.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Implement strategies for the diagnosis and management of tickborne diseases, unexplained fever, and pertussis;
• Implement strategies for appropriate vaccine administration;
• Apply new information toward the evaluation and management of obesity, short stature, hirsutism, amenorrhea, and thyroid nodules;
• Recognize, evaluate, and utilize strategies to manage ADHD and autism;
• Apply advances and controversies in the evidence-based treatment of common surgical conditions, bariatric surgery, pain management and utilization of acupuncture, hypnosis, and CBD;
• Implement innovative approaches to the management of eating disorders, IBD, NAFLD, and functional abdominal pain;
• Discuss and counsel patients about gender affirmative care, pubertal development, vaping, dermatologic fads, sunscreen, and immunizations;
• Describe the effects of environmental toxins, how to prevent leukemia, and provide care for cancer survivors and vulnerable youth accordingly;
• Recognize what clinical situations integrative and alternative methods of pain control could or should be used.
