Strandness Symposium: Diagnostic and Therapeutic approaches to Vascular Disease is organized by Complete Conference Management (CCM) and will be held from Mar 03 - 07, 2019 at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Wailea, Hawaii, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of vascular surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, vascular medicine specialists, fellows, nurses, and other allied health professionals.

Complete Conference Management designates this live activity for a maximum of 34.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Description:
Established in 1987 by Dr. D. Eugene Strandness, the “father of the vascular laboratory,” the biennial Strandness Symposium provides a comprehensive review and update on diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to vascular disease. The symposium continues to emphasize the themes of Dr. Strandness’ life work and legacy through lectures, case presentations, and workshops taught by a faculty of expert physicians and sonographers. The Vascular Forum and interactive Interpretation and Reporting session provide additional learning opportunities.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the learner should be able to:
• Discuss the latest interpretation criteria and technical pitfalls in carotid duplex scanning.
• Explain how to develop a quality assurance program for the vascular laboratory.
• Use diagnostic algorithms and structured reporting to optimize vascular laboratory utilization.
• Describe recent advances in management of aortic trauma and aortic dissection.
• Incorporate duplex scanning into a follow-up imaging program for patients having EVAR.
• Apply appropriate diagnostic criteria for both native and stented mesenteric and renal arteries.
• Use the latest evidence-based guidelines for management of venous thromboembolism.
• Recognize the importance of technical protocols for venous reflux testing.
• Outline the current options for treatment of superficial venous disease.
• Discuss the diagnosis and management of pelvic disorders.
• Use duplex scanning for pre-dialysis access mapping and identification of dialysis access complications.
• Define the role of the vascular laboratory in the management of critical limb ischemia.
• Discuss the "best practices" for medical management of peripheral artery disease.

Vascular Forum:
The Vascular Forum is a special program to promote education and career development for trainees pursuing careers related to the care of patients with vascular disease. A part of the Strandness Symposium since 2015, the Vascular Forum program is open to students and physicians-in-training, including residents and fellows in vascular surgery, radiology, and cardiology. Further, because the Strandness Symposium programs have traditionally supported inter-professional education and team-based care principles, trainees in sonography, nursing, and other health fields are invited to participate.

Interpretation Lab:
This half-day session, available for an additional registration fee, will have an interactive case-based format, starting with interpretation of Doppler waveforms and covering the major areas of cerebrovascular, peripheral venous, peripheral arterial, and visceral vascular testing. Attendees will participate in selecting interpretation options and faculty will provide analysis and discussion focusing on current standards for interpretation and reporting in accredited laboratories.
