2019 Annual Meeting Southern Pediatric Endocrine Society is organized by USF Health's Office of Continuing Professional Development and will be held from Feb 15 - 17, 2019 at Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace Disney Springs Area, Orlando, Florida, United States of America.
Target Audience :
The course is designed for pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric endocrine nurses, diabetic educators, PA’s, fellows and other healthcare professionals interested in pediatric endocrinology.
Physicians: USF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing education for physicians.
USF Health designates this educational activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses: USF Health is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
A maximum of 8.5 contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing education activity.
Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ by ACCME accredited providers. Physician Assistants who participate will receive a certificate of completion commensurate with the extent of their participation.
Course Description :
The 2019 Southern Pediatric Endocrine Society annual meeting is designed to allow members of the Society, other interested pediatric endocrinologists, and healthcare professionals to present new research findings and interesting case studies of pediatric endocrine problems in order to update participants on the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine abnormalities. Topics were selected to meet the educational needs of pediatric endocrine providers to improve knowledge, competence, and patient outcomes. Opportunity will be provided for discussion, questions and answers and interaction among participants in an informal setting.
Learning Objectives :
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
• Discuss the latest Type 1 Diabetes clinical trials and research.
• Develop a comprehensive approach to the assessment and care of transgender youth.
• Review promising therapies for pediatric bone disorders.
• Identify developments in diabetes technology and therapeutics
• Recognize the challenges of growth hormone treatment in the ever-changing market landscape.
• Recognize updated guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of hypothalamic-pituitary disorders in childhood cancer survivors.
