Fifth Annual Endocrine Fellows Foundation Research Forum is organized by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine - Office of Continuing Medical Education and will be held from Jan 24 - 27, 2019 at San Antonio, Texas, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Endocrinology, Pediatrics. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
This will be the Fifth Annual program for EFF focusing on Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolism. In this intensive research meeting, fellows are given the opportunity to present their fellowship projects to experts of the field. The first day allows fellows a practice session to hone presentation skills for the following day. The next day sessions begin bright and early with an introduction from Dr. Mark Stolar. Over the next few hours, fellows present their oral presentations with expert faculty providing feedback and valuable critiques. Expert faculty also present on a trending topic in Diabetes. The day ends with a poster session from fellows and their projects. On the next day there are expert faculty presentations and then breakout sessions. In these sessions, fellows are paired 5:1 with an expert faculty member. Each group is tasked with creating a research project from start to finish. Projects are then presented the final day of the meeting and a winning group is selected.

Course Objectives:
• Identify new areas of diabetes and cardiometabolic disorder research that offer new inroads to effective therapies.
• Identify key components to be included in diabetes and cardiometabolic disorders basic science and clinical research.
• Discuss research study designs that may improve on current approaches to management of diabetes and cardiometabolic disorders.
• Enhance skills in scientific thought and discussion through mentor and group-driven discussion of research and presentations.
• Develop skills in generating a research grant proposal from hypothesis generation to grant submission.
• Demonstrate how to generate research hypotheses de novo and build into a real-time project under the direction of an expert faculty mentor.
• Develop a better understanding of "what it takes" to become an expert researcher in diabetes and cardiometabolic disease and to develop a career in academic medicine.
• Enhance research presentation skills in a peer-reviewed setting.
