Current Trends in Pleural Disease Management is organized by Duke Interventional Pulmonology and will be held on Sep 12, 2019 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, United States of America. This Conference has been approved for a maximum of 7.75AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Course Overview:
This course is designed for pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, mid-level providers, and allied health professionals who are interested in enhancing their knowledge about pleural disease management and more effective utilization of existing tools and technologies, particularly thoracic ultrasound. Guidelines to diagnose and treat pleural infection, malignant pleural effusion and pneumothorax will be discussed. The lectures, interactive didactic sessions and hands-on stations will cover a range of topics including thoracic ultrasonography, chest tube placement, indwelling pleural catheters and pleuroscopy.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course, the participants should be able to:
• Discuss current guidelines for management of benign and malignant pleural disorders.
• Have hands-on experience of performing thoracic ultrasonography, chest tubes, tunneled pleural catheters, endobronchial valve placement for bronchopleural fistula and pleuroscopy.
