Tackling the Opioid Epidemic : The Dental Team's Responsibility is organized by UK Healthcare CECentral and will be held on Apr 14, 2018 at University of Louisville Event and Conference Center at ShelbyHurst Campus, Louisville, Kentucky, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is Dentists and dental hygienists in all practice settings. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 3.75 hours of participation

Course Overview:
Drug overdose is a huge problem facing the healthcare system in Kentucky. Drug overdose deaths are acute poisoning deaths due to prescription or illicit drugs. According to data from the National Center for Health Statistics, Kentucky had the fourth highest drug overdose death rate in the US in 2014.

Dentists encounter patients seeking prescription or illicit drugs in all work settings. They are in frequent contact with patients seeking care who use illicit drugs and face complex clinical and personal situations that require a high level of clinical competence, expertise, and skill.

Conference Objectives are :
• Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Help keep opioids from becoming a source of harm to patients with pain
• Manage dental pain especially for patients who are at risk for drug overdose and/or addiction
• Identify resources to support the dental professional in recovery
• Discuss laws and regulations related to prescribing controlled substances
